What happens to anything submitted here
Salty Slabs is an independent reference on rising damp, salt damp and efflorescence. It publishes research and a diagnostic tool. It holds no building licence, carries out no building work, and sells nothing. The only personal information it ever receives is what somebody types into the contact form.
What is collected
Reading this site collects no personal information. There is no login, no account, and no advertising or tracking cookie set by this site.
Submitting the contact form sends:
- the name, phone number, email address and suburb or postcode entered;
- the description of the problem, and any photographs attached;
- any answers carried over from the line-up, if it was used first;
- which page was landed on, which page the form was submitted from, the site that referred the visit if there was one, and any campaign parameters in the address.
That last group exists so it is possible to tell which pages answer real questions. It is stored against the submission, not against a person, and it is not used to build a profile of anyone or to follow anyone between sites.
What it is used for
A form submission is passed to a licensed waterproofing contractor so they can assess the issue. That is the purpose of the form and it is stated on the form itself.
Details are not sold, not rented, not added to a mailing list and not used for marketing. No newsletter is sent from this site.
How long it is kept
Form submissions arrive as email and are retained only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry. There is no separate customer database behind this site.
Access, correction and removal
Anyone who has used the form can ask what was submitted, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the contact form and say so plainly, or write to hello@saltyslabs.com.
An enquiry already passed to a contractor is also held by that contractor, who is responsible for their own copy of it. They will have identified themselves when they made contact.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, so nothing sensitive — identity documents, financial details, passwords — should ever be submitted through the form. It is for describing a damp wall.
Children
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version replaces this page. It is worth re-reading before submitting anything if it has been a while.
