Salty Slabs is the rising damp and salt attack division of S&S Remedial Services Pty Ltd — waterproofing and concrete repair specialists working across South East Queensland. Same licence, same insurance, same people, narrower job.
Why the jokes
Because this corner of the trade has earned them. The standard sales process is a free inspection, carried out by someone paid on commission, using a two-pin moisture meter that reads absurdly high on any wall with salt in it whether the wall is soaking or bone dry. Then a five-figure quote, today only.
We think that is funny in the bleak way that things are funny when they happen to other people, and we would rather point at it than pretend the market is fine. The cartoons are aimed at bad work and at the people selling cures for problems you do not have.
Everything a worried person actually needs to rely on — what is wrong, what it costs, what we will and will not do — is written perfectly straight. If you find a joke on a price, tell us and we will take it off.
What we do, and what we don't
We do two things.
- Chemical damp course (External brickwork) — A new damp-proof course injected into the mortar bed, to stop groundwater climbing the wall.
- Hydropoxy slab treatment (Internal concrete slabs) — Negative-side epoxy moisture barrier applied to the top of the slab — grind back, prepare the surface, then apply the membrane before the new floor goes down.
We do not replace render, cut physical damp courses, install subfloor ventilation, do landscaping or drainage, or waterproof wet areas. Those are all real answers to real damp problems and some of them will be the answer to yours. When that happens we will tell you, and you will get a better and cheaper result from whoever actually does that work.

How we sell, which is barely at all
There is no free inspection, because a free inspection carried out by the person selling the cure is a sales call wearing a hi-vis. There is no thermal camera if you sign tonight. Nothing on this site is in red capitals.
Start with the line-up. It costs nothing, asks for no contact details, and most people who finish it are told they do not need us.
Most people who send us photos don't end up needing us
That isn't false modesty, it's the numbers. Damp gets blamed on rising damp far more often than it is rising damp. Send three photos and we'll tell you which one you've got — including when the answer costs you a Saturday and a shovel rather than a contractor.
